The installation, however, was smooth and the drive is recognized properly.
For the first firing tests there were already the first inconsistencies. Lt. Manufacturers should support 14-fold burning speed the drive with BD-R SL. ZUS. Purchased media (M-DISC BD-R 25GB) are specified for 4x recording speed.
Nevertheless, only max settled in the writing software. Set 2x. After starting the burning process, the drive for some reason throttles even to 1x (4MB / sec). The burning process therefore takes about 1.5 hours !!.
During the subsequent comparison with the burning software then suddenly goes 12x (50MB / sec). USB and PC as a braking element I exclude therefore. (A comparison with an ext. 2.5 "USB3.0 hard drive to the same port was about 80 MB / sec.)
Now for the firing results.
I now have a first M-Disc DVD and Conn. In total. 6 BD-R M-Disc burned.
The DVD worked right away in another drive (Plextor PX-B940) properly.
The first 3 BD-R M discs also work fine.
In the 4th BD-R M-Disc occurs when Plextor drive already problems to read all data at once. The read speed drops significantly. Also, the LG burner comes into stutter.
The 5th and 6th BD-R M-Disc is then unreadable by any drive. (Although the data comparing the burner software with all OK closes).
I have now described a 7 BD-R M-Disc with a different burner software. With the same bad result.
All in all, very unreliable and - especially in the important for me functionality M-DISC - not exactly trustworthy when it comes to long-term data archiving.
I will return the unit.
