As the title suggests, refers my review to a comparison of both devices.
I was until a few weeks even more Zenbookbesitzer, but this returned result of the insolence with the SSD and the I think second-rate keyboard (and screen).
I'll start with the Cons compared to the Zenbook:
- Of course it is not as thin and Agend processed as the Zenbook. But still very high level. The build quality is top notch. An aluminum-magnesium alloy with black, powder coating MATTER. 19mm flat, 1700gr easily. I must say that visually tells me almost more better than the Zenbook. A "disadvantage" which can therefore be cope very well.
- The reflective screen. Only 1366x768Pixel resolution and an average brightness of 210cd can not keep up with the Zenbook. Otherwise, I see no major differences. Contrast and viewing angles are as poor as the Zenbook;) All in all a standard notebook TN panel. Unfortunately. However, an affordable alternative to the hardly known for not having any other problems (Samsung Series 9 - Wireless Pobleme example).
- The sound. The built-in "Speakers" are really bad. Extremely much treble. Tut almost painful to higher volumes. Since the Zenbook was significantly better.
So. That's it. Now to the advantages:
- The SSD. Is installed a 160GB Intel 320 SSD in normal 2,5Zoll form factor. So can also be exchanged for a larger (or SATA III), if not rich whom the 160GB. Should be a little tricky, but possible. Videos There are on Youtube.
With the power of SSD I am very satisfied despite Sata II. An A-SSD Benchmark I will upload in the photos.
- Processor:
It is built unlike the Ultrabooks NO ULV processor, but a normal dual-core processor. I have the i7 2620M version. This is clocked at 2.7GHz and has a turbo to 3.4GHz. What can I say? In conjunction with the Intel 320 SSD just like arrows. No comparison with the Zenbook. The U36SD definitely plays in a different league.
- Ram:
Installed are 8gb with me. (2x4gbDDR3). Windows Experience Index 7.5!
- Battery:
Despite the extremely potent hardware, my notebook is a battery life of about 7 hours by activated WLAN and medium screen brightness. Without wireless maturities of 10 hours should be possible.
- Keyboard:
Ums make short: a dream! No comparison with the Zenbook, which has from time to time swallowed letters with me. Pressure point and typing feel are 1a. The Notebookjournal ruling that here one of the best notebook keyboards were installed, I can only confirm.
- Wifi:
Does what it should, not the slightest problem. Reception is good and stable connection.
-Volume: Surfing / chatting In normal I hear absolutely nothing. The fan is made of and not to hear the notebook thanks to SSD. Even if the fan turns on time, the sound is pleasant and barely perceptible.
Neutral:
The touchpad. Notebookcheck.com writes the test ie:. "The multi-touch features detect the use of two fingers This finger gestures are possible (zoom, roll, scroll) The traditional one-finger scroll bars are available (can be disabled), but not. visually marked. ". But the gestures work for me despite not properly Bios and drivers update. Otherwise, I can handle it. Since I always use a wireless mouse, do not bother me.
All in all I am very satisfied with the device, and do not regret the switch from Zenbook second.
A star deduction is available for the display. I hope Asus (and 90% of other notebook manufacturers) get it at some point that is here saving at the wrong end.
