Here the author presents a thesis (far removed from the "official line") that, if it received the echo, would create a sort of Copernican revolution.
Here it is (very summarized and simplified)
1) For Jews now living in Israel as in the rest of the world does not descend from the ancient people who lived in the kingdom of Judea at the time of the 1st and 2nd Temple. They come from various nations who, in the course of history, have converted to Judaism (proselyte!) In several places of the Mediterranean and other regions.
2) - "Jewish religion" exists, contrary to the "Jewish people sharing a common origin," which it is a fiction.
3) -L'Exil is an invention (no historical writing did chronicles and it was logistically impossible for the Romans). The real descendants of the inhabitants of the kingdom of Judea are more likely today Palestinians (who were Islamized) !!!
What it should involve turnovers in the minds! ....
Turnovers existential unbearable and unacceptable for some, but new start on a sound basis for other (we can always dream).
"The Jew" would not have to bear his self-proclaimed status of being extra-ordinary (sometimes weighing status, but sometimes convenient to take unilateral decisions and indisputable), but to live among ordinary Human and the other; what is already good.
I assume that further work will confirm or invalidate all or part of the contents of this book, complete it, refine it or fix it.
But even if Shlomo Sand was mistaken as a historian, this work would be very useful at a certain angle: it would be a thought experiment that would be enough to calm many bellicose ardor. Those based on ethnic grounds, and / or religious to "justify" their policies and confrontations would be seriously undermined.
Finally a book to try to "tell the story" rather than "telling stories".
To enable DIALOGUE rather than the exchange of MONOLOGUES.
I hope ...
