Base for a LEGO - basic equipment.

Who besides the set - just the famous Lego kits series (Technic, Creator, City, Friends, Star Wars, Chima, etc.) a base - looking to loose Lego elements foundation, exactly in the blocks boxes of Classic Series right. Lego sets from time to time the Classic boxes when it comes to content, reassembled. The current stone boxes Classic Series is available in different sizes, ie having a different number of elements and colors.

The medium-sized box (Lego ID 10696) contains 484 parts in 35 colors. Specialty of this box is the large number of tires and rims (each 18 pieces). Whereas back the number of windows and frames is very small (only 1 piece). The number of windows and frame in turn is the major specialty Brick Box (Lego 10698) Classic Series.
Next, the medium-sized box containing a small base plate with the dimensions 16 x 8 cm.

The stackable by large knobs yellow box of plastic is very convenient, but the material here is not as thick as the also stackable separately purchasable Lego storage boxes in stone form (... which are relatively expensive). About the low level of the medium-sized box with 484 parts I was a bit surprised (maximum 1/3 of the box). So it is clear that here many small Lego elements are included. I would imagine that the level could in some buyers lead to a more substantial criticism. Since we ourselves but also for the stones-Ergänzungsset pastels (Lego ID 10694) decided with 303 parts, and this has a cardboard box as packaging, we have checked the contents first thing in the "medium-sized" box decanted. The level thus reached about half of the box height.
Very good, I find that the box is a small compilation of instruction manuals in paper form for smaller finger exercises contains (animals, instruments, small house, etc.). These serve as a small suggestion for further development of imagination and creativity. Further instructions can be downloaded from the Lego website.

Conclusion
The medium-sized Brick Classic Series represents a part of a small Lego core curriculum. The compilation of elements succeeded, but makes in the box a lost impression. To supplement the core curriculum (and a further filling of the box) other purchases are necessary and useful.

Supplement Purchases
Next we have the grüne- purchased the sand-colored and the gray base plate. The Large Brick Box (Lego ID 10698) with 790 parts, we will also buy more, because these, among other things, a larger number of different Windows / Doors / has doorframe.

In summary, I would like to enumerate a, in my view, reasonable compilation of a small basic set of Lego elements and base plates of the current Classic range (in sum but then around 125 euros; EIA prices):

- Lego 10696 - Medium Brick, 484 parts (specialty: eg 18 x tires and rims, but only once windows plus frame)
- Lego 10698 - Large Brick Box, 790 parts, (specialty: including 8 x different windows, doors, picture frames; 6 x tire plus rim)
- Lego 10694 - Ergänzungsset pastels, 303 parts
- Lego 10699 - Sand colored base plate (25 cm x 25 cm)
- Lego 10700 - Green base plate (25 cm x 25 cm)
- Lego 10701 - Grey base plate (38 cm x 38 cm)
