Sony reissued at a small price (5CD the price of one) of the treasures of his repertoire: here low cost does not mean low quality (we regret the complete absence of any book, even in English). These readings reveal the resulting prodigy when soloist and a conductor speak a single language: their love of music. This reissue of works recorded during the too short career of Leon Fleisher is a joy for all music lovers. It is no surprise to find Beethoven, Mozart and Brahms present in the same cabinet. 1. Leon Fleisher is never demonstrative, its full and warm sound (Concerto No. 4 seems to be one of the greatest discographic successes) let the music breathe. 2. George Szell shown a real understanding with her pianist: he goes to work every sense of right proportions, expressive side.
These reissues Sony are a real joy for all music lovers: it will signal the concertos of Beethoven even increased sonatas by Rudolf Serkin. Hopefully Sony will soon make us the Mozart interpretations of Rudolf Serkin formerly published in the collection The Art of Interpretation become unaffordable.
