Despite all the doubts and quasi despair we opened the "Compass" and measured in the on state, the total voltage of our 3 inlaid, supposedly new batteries with the following results for: target: 4.5V; Is: 3.9V
The game control center had so the batteries (alkaline from the ALDI Süd) to an estimated maturity of max. 4h almost 15% "emptied". A subsequent power measurement revealed depending trendy text headquarters a power consumption between 20 to 30 mA. As such, no really bad values. However, the problem seems to be the existing functional reliability of the battery-operated station. Result: No problems and Hubi even snapped. The season was almost exactly 15 min., The total voltage of the batteries after that 4,66V. Also, a new round for two in level 3 again with 15 min. Playing time went smoothly, the battery voltage thereafter was still 4,59V. We played on until the battery voltage dropped below 4V. And then it started again with the above problems, the frequency of which apparently also depends on the selected difficulty level.
Subject to and taking into account the specific problems of our "Hubi game" we venture the following statement:
The misrepresentation of wall positions really has to do with too low battery voltage.
Really full batteries (if possible measure it !!!) solve these problems.
Conclusion: At least our "Hubi" game has the properties described. Not least from an economic and ecological point of view is the enclosed game control center a bad design, since it is virtually functionally reliable only with full batteries. An occurring malfunction can not be detected in time, because the central location otherwise "normal" behavior. Although this is just a toy and not a safety-related device, although should this certain design standards are met.
If you want to avoid these problems is only the preventative exchange almost full batteries with completely full, a genuine business model for battery manufacturers. The use of batteries eliminates unfortunately completely, as this would provide at a cell voltage of 1.2 V in total only 3.6 V and thus are far below the "functional limit" of 4V. The manufacturer could provide space for a 4 AAA battery without any major problems, so that the total nominal voltage would therefore be 4 x 1.5V 6V.
