I had previously already clear that the device should not replace a notebook or wants.
It should be used in living rooms and bedrooms as easy and quick to be assigned surf Tablet.
First time at the positive aspects:
The hardware actually works exceptionally high quality. Glass and aluminum, plus a very brilliant display.
Because there is no fan, there is no disturbing noises.
The battery lasts a surprisingly long time.
The software is of course fully developed, the response to touch inputs is extremely fast.
One can very well "impress": each and every one of our guests, it wanted to take into their own hands, or has at least been interested.
Now for the negative aspects:
The device is simply impractical:
If it is placed on the table, it wobbles. The viewing angle is then also very unfavorable.
In addition, very quickly scratched the beautiful aluminum back.
To keep it longer (z. B. 1 hour) in his hand, it's just too hard. You also have to be careful to touch only the narrow edge, otherwise the touch screen no longer responds properly.
What bothers me again and again: it so "square" that it becomes uncomfortable after a short time to keep it in your hand (the same applies also for the iPhone 4).
Magazines or even books I do not read so anyway.
The display resolution is so low that texts appear pixelated.
Is strange that Apple turns the iPhone the "Retina" display as significant in the iPad but worse than many notebook computers.
When carrying around one must actually use both hands, as front and back are so smooth that the expensive pieces easily slip out of hand.
Some of the criticisms one can perhaps reduce by covers, displays etc.. Only, what is then really this expensive paid design?
Then you could use the same expensive materials.
I have the impression that the optics will design decisions have been made that may adversely affect the handling (but positive, "want to have" the effect, which indeed works).
Together with the other constraints (no USB, no SD slot, coupling to Apple) is a total no roadproof fixture for me.
The 10-inch models of the competition are obviously many points (weight, handling) hardly better.
Perhaps smaller (7-inch) may avoid some of the problems mentioned devices.
