Design: I think the Lumia 800 is currently the "best" smartphone on the market. It just looks again different from the monotony of HTC / Apple / Samsung etc. The protective cover that comes with the way not spoiled the look!
Conclusion Design: Subjective 5 stars for great refreshing style.
Hardware:
Not quite on the amount of time for a smartphone in this price range but for the average user and the system perfectly adequate!
- Display: The resolution is perfectly adequate and the display has excellent black levels which particularly stands out for WP7 (also an iPhone 4S user was done from the display). 3.7 inch hand me also completely out, I do not have big hands and serve like to single-handedly. Furthermore, the display responds very well to all possible inputs. Extra hard glass is for the scratches make possible thing of the past. I've been using the device without protective film and do not have a scratch;) One should not carry phone and keys in the same pocket anyway.
- Memory: 16GB memory are sufficient you have to stop sometimes behold what you so "takes along". There is also still the cloud (SkyDrive) of MS and the TelekomCloud there sometimes too. Still, I'd rather have 32GB or more (comparisons N9).
- Internal Hardware: The processor and RAM are working fast with WP7. I can not judge how it now looks in graphically intense games. I do not really use my smartphone for games. So far, however, all the mini-games ran smoothly.
- Front Camera: Missing is has since bought me personally not an important point but MS Skype you can probably on the Skype hope will soon be integrated into the OS. And in Skype makes a front camera has more sense. Whether to use them is another question. Some people use and need them, so minor drawback in this case.
- Main Camera: In theory very well. Practically ... because I just do the last bit! I feel that I always have a slight green tint in the center. Then I heard of an update. I think the update will fix the problems. With flash photos are sometimes a bit too light for my taste. The colors are then very cold. But otherwise good photos! Videos I do not turn, so I can say nothing.
- Sound / Voice Quality: The sound comes out of my opinion is good. The headphones are just "supplements". They serve their purpose. But every enthusiast buys higher-quality headphones. But what bothers is a "crack" as if one pulls out the headphones at each song change. Whether I stream music from the device or abspiele. According to Nokia Support (by the way was very friendly and responded quickly helpful!) Is aware of the problem and will be fixed with an update. Furthermore, you can hear a noise when you hear music and video on Youtube for example, invites and is traveling with only 2G. So as when you hold the phone to poorly shielded boxes. The sound is softly playing in the background. The voice quality is okay. Somehow, people hear sometimes different than my old Samsung. It happened that I again looked at the screen if I really talked to the right. But I could understand the other side well. - The buttons on the side: I have increasingly read in forums of loose buttons. One hears a rustle when you shake the phone, for example. For me the unlock key is affected. - Reception: Until now I had always good reception (D1 network) and also the GPS tracking was fast.
- Duration: The battery life is such a thing. I just say it is average for today's smartphones. Did not really many possibilities for comparison. Depending on use, I invite either eh every night or every other night. All depends entirely on the day on mood and how much I have used the smartphone.
- Addendum to maturity: I can unload the Lumia once fully up to auto-off. Now I have the phone for 3 days and 22 hours of operation and still have 10% battery. Settings: On the road to 2G and home WLAN. Night data connections from for about 9 hours, because I sleep anyway;) display brightness automatically, everything else on out. A few SMS (25 or so) and 20 calling minutes are included. Just as WhatsApp messages and 3 email accounts every 30 minutes pushing. I have a few photos well done and a few web queries. So who creates using the device sparingly up to 4 days without charging. That works for me but only since I unloaded the machine completely!
Conclusion Hardware: All in all I can forgive just only 3-4 star for the hardware. It tops but it has just flops. If the updates I can show effect awarded 4 stars without hesitation.
Software:
The software (Windows Phone 7) is refreshingly different! I just fed endless accumulations of small icons as with iOS or Android. The Metro design meets easy fully my taste! Minimal but informative. The contacts Hub is a highlight of the system. All important information about each person, even a self-linked from all social networks. It takes, for example, actually almost no Facebook app more. Also very well resolved is the exchange of SMS messages on Facebook in a course. Really good! Where we are already in the contacts: I use Windows Live, where I deposited all my contacts / appointments. As a mail program on your desktop I use Windows Live Mail. Is similar to Outlook, costs nothing and is all I want. The synchronization between my phone and PC works flawlessly. I can only recommend every home users. Even my Gmail account is synchronized without any problems. Events from Facebook are incidentally stored directly in the calendar, useful feature. Details, commitments and Visitor Messages can also be viewed directly. Nokia Navigation works well. The GPS signal is found quickly, the announcements were clear and understandable and I came quickly and safely to their destination. Again, an update is announced so you can really fully navigate offline. Nokia Maps are also very convenient for pedestrians in foreign cities. But some stored information is out of date (yes the supermarket with us has been adding to 20 clock on ...). Nokia Music I find currently the most useful. The Mix Radio is fun and I always learn new songs good to know! What else can you say? The system is almost always very fluid and I had until now only a single reboot. The Market Place is well stocked, even if not as good as an AppStore for comparison. And some apps have also not yet the class as we know it from other systems. But it all comes yet. Synchronization of "entertainment media" via Zune if wanted also via WLAN, is really easy and I find Zune much more pleasant to use than iTunes. Unfortunately I can not synchronize my Office documents via Zune. This is all about the Microsoft cloud. I fänds well if the example via Zune would be possible. Another recent negative point: Internet sharing (tethering) is not yet possible but will hopefully soon enabled via update.
Conclusion Software: 4-5 stars! Anders, fresh, fast and informative! Internet sharing is still lacking, Marketplace is still on the rise and a central synchronization of all media, I'd like that.
Overall conclusion:
The device makes it easy and fun it would 5 star and a strong buy recommendation from me get when following updates (updated) are:
- Removing the Musikbugs (crack at song change) and the noise
- Improving the camera
- Internet Sharing
So I am sorry "but" always put a. The Musikbug is by far the worst! And I can only guess Nokia in quality assurance to pay more on the 3 buttons on the outside. The must not wobble but really.
So all in all 4 stars and a conditional purchase recommendations based upon the software side, probably to be solved bugs!
Addendum: Could compare yesterday a colleague with the Samsung Galaxy S2. He has flashed nothing or the same, so is Ausganszustand as well for most normal users. I like the Lumia of the operation and of the optics, the better! The look and feel is better than the Android device. There were also several small stuttering at S2. I personally was the Lumia much better in the hand. But that's all a matter of taste, they are both very good equipment!
Addendum 22:02:12: After I am still waiting for updates (especially to correct the Soundbugs and tethering) and the battery simply times annoying Weil ever just took two so what there was very incomprehensible now only three stars. I habs just fed up waiting forever.
Addendum 20:03:12: So, it's time. Nokia Navigation is now completely offline and with speed limit! Nokia Maps has also received an update: D Rumor has it with the upcoming Windows Phone 7.5 "Refresh" alias "Tango" update also comes tethering. Furthermore, currently an update rolled out which mainly improves battery life and audio playback. I wonder when I reach it, or when it reaches me. Bring me the updates and the 4 stars are back for sure! Even 5 star in it if all the deficiencies are remedied. At Ebay there already new equipment for 330. Very fair price I think! So 3.5 stars: a growing trend!
Addendum 27/03/12: I did not do anything different than usual, but today I could suddenly create a new note. I thought it is possibly at the Office app. So reboot, more opportunities you have not yes. Unfortunately, the restart was not as hoped. The Telekom logo was displayed and then nothing else happened. Also remove Sim card did nothing. Since I had only one thing: A reset of the device. Annoying! Now it works again. Trotztdem are gone SMS courses and the contacts I had also new "link". Unfortunately I was traveling and could therefore play no backup. I hope that does not happen again!
Addendum 20:04:12: So far everything is going well since reset. Have also received the update to address the battery problems. I'll loose with 3G permanently throughout the day. I have to praise the development of the market place. Slowly there is almost all successful apps of competitors or evenly matched age scopes! A total of over 80,000 apps Who wants to have a number. So the argument that there are far fewer apps attracts fewer and fewer. The operating system update Tango comes in June, according to some sources. An important issue about the much speculation is the major update to Windows Phone 8 "Apollo". I think the Lumia will get the update! There are rumors that the already Lumias Windows Phone 8 will be tested. Supplement 01.06.12: After exactly 7 days (Saturday, Sunday, Whit Monday included) came my new Lumia 800 yesterday at noon. The old device was unhesitatingly discarded and replaced with a new unit. The keys are now beautifully crisp because nothing wobbles more! Excellent. The stupid crack at the song change is unfortunately remained. Seems to have each device. If this is not so, please write a comment on my review! I'm also interested in information. So all in all I am very happy with the service, went quickly and easily via an online repair order! This can also be run completely different ... The new Batterieleistug I am also very pleased, indeed habs once loaded but until now it has only consumes very little power.
Addendum 06.07.2012: Today I up-played the Tango aka Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh update. Lo and behold, there are last Internet Sharing. The "flip to mute" function is now integrated. Was probably otherwise only some minor improvements with respect. Of SIM and MMS / SMS functions. The crack when changing song I still ... :-( One notices especially when active speakers are connected.
