I ordered the hard drive because I had lying around two hard drives from old notebooks in the basement. The Sharkoon liked visually and quick installation had convinced me.
After the plate was the same as unpacked. Visually really nice, but you can tell just now that it is only thin plastic with an aluminum plate on top. So and then tested.
First plate pure, formatted -> ok fits
Second plate pure, formatted -> ok fits
Then I wanted to do something on one of the plates to copy (20 GB). The copying window opened, but nothing happened, even after 2 hours no copy progress. Had then the next plate installed (the one star I give it because you can not give less and because the change is really going fast!), This was also recognized. Then tried for me important data to be stored on these (about 30 GB). Also has initially only works in about the last two GB breaks the plate off and was no longer recognized by the computer .... SHOCK! The blue LED still lit but nothing has excited himself.
Drive out and back inside -> no
Plate out, wait a few seconds, back inside -> no
Other panel purely -> does (phew!)
Drive out again and the other plate off -> works (YES!)
Got my data back down, since the housing does not work anymore! Blue LED lights but there is no recognized plate.
Have googled and found that even more people had / have this problem the problem. So I'm not the only one -> ergo the part goes back again!
Had Sharkoon always a reliable brand in the head but that is not at all times. Cheap acting plastic, this little USB Popel down there bothers total and the housing is defective. And when the plate reinschiebt you have this only obliquely shove that it snaps to the next level below. That and the fact that too pretty much play up or down in case the plate has got, but very disappointed me.
Property me now appointed by MEMORY KING another housing. Aluminium, USB 3.0 with USB 3.0 cable. Although you need two screws with reindrehen but that's almost as fast as in the Sharkoon (screws, screwdriver and pocket are -> the Sharkoon has no pocket). And the new housing will cost about 3 EUR more, one has but a little more stable with USB 3.0 (for me it just copied with 62 MB / sec.).
