Blues à la mode Ray Charles

Blues à la mode Ray Charles

The Genius Sings the Blues (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Ray Charles has given all the musical accolade during his time with "Atlantic", which he recorded, and if he had the blues, then he had the finest blues, you can imagine. Again, Ray Charles does not stop the pure doctrine of the genus (if it should have ever known) and proving instead by the way that the piano can be a real blues instrument - perhaps most emphatically with the primitive "Some Day Baby ".
No question, these twelve songs, all recorded in 1961 are deep black Blues, even those among them who is otherwise known of bluegrass or folk, such as "I'm Moving On," which he as an uptempo gospel singing. Ray Charles' style is unique anyway. This time dominated the Blues, as already promised the album title, but Ray Charles has always the complete musical tradition of the US South in the luggage, and where it fits, and only there, he unpacks: Gospel in "Early in the Mornin '", deceptive casual piano jazz in "The Midnight Hour" or "Mr Charles' Blues", Rhythm'n'Blues at "The Right Time", jazz instrumented Gospel in "Nobody Cares" ... He just can, and his instinct it never.
Ray Charles arranges his songs here a little worn than usual, sometimes even solemn - as it should be with the Blues. Sometimes he celebrates the Blues almost, digs into the songs - but never raw but polished, elegant sometimes. Blues à la mode just Ray Charles.
