Carolyn has recorded this album last year specifically in her native Texas. In Antone's / Austin, Kessler Theater in Dallas and in the Last Concert in Houston. In the song selection has deliberately resorted to musicians of their home and of course used their own songs. The album is recorded live and it gives off a very pleasant live atmosphere. Lately Live albums are recorded but mixing them off so that you neither the audience hears nor any announcements of musicians. Here it is different. Carolyn tells who wrote the song, why do they play it or what connects them with this song. The result is an intimate live atmosphere. It shows in all 12 songs its mettle as a songwriter and as a first-class musician. Through their technique of fingerpicking, they conceded a pleasant guitar sound. The album starts with a known number of Leon Russell / Don Nix, Palace of the King, known to many by Freddie King's version. it is an opener as you ask for it, full steam ahead in Texas Blues style. The next song is not the Robert Johnson Crossroads songs but comes from Doug Sahm (Sir Douglas Quintet / Texas Tornados). A slow song with beautiful lyrics about loss and abandonment. Come Together was penned by Ruthie Foster, the song they wrote together, a class Gospel Blues. God Only Knows When is Carolyn Wonderland pure. Then we hear the first song from the great Texas bluesman Blind Willie Johnson (1897-1945), whose song "Dark Was the Night, Cold ... is together with Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Chuck Berry on Interstellar Mission aboard the spacecraft Voyager I on the gold record. "Samson & Delilah" is gospel-blues at its best. "Money in the Game" is a song by Carolyn Wonderland with lots of local color, which you can clearly see on the atmosphere in the hall. My personal favorite is now: Nobodys Fault But Mine (Blind Willie Johnson). I have a moment later consulted the original, I'm thrilled. No better way to interpret this song. Carolyn showing their skills, vocally as on guitar with neat slide lot. Walk On has it's written with Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel but become absolutely no country song, rather it is here Funky to the point. Neil Kassanoff (Austin / Tx) wrote the following song "Heart", a very beautiful ballad. Cumbia Raza is a Los Lobos song sounds as on. Carolyn plays the trumpet and guitar and sings the song of course in Spanish. It is a great trip to South America! When I go away is an old Levon Helm song to him wrote his friend Larry Campbell. Carolyn dedicates this song, where it comes to the death, Levon Helm (1940-2012). Finally once again a well-known song, to sing along and sway: Let's go get stoned. Ray Charles made this song to No.1 hit. Joe Cocker, James Brown, Booker T. & The MGs, The Coasters are just a few who have made this song known. As of May 22, 2015, comes, unfortunately, far too short, according to us Germany. However, many clubs they wanted unfortunately they do not have time to stay longer. On May 30, they can be seen at the Muddy Blues Festival Lives in 15868 Love Rose (south of Berlin).
