E = MC² (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Yes, the album stands out not particularly on the predecessor The Emancipation of Mimi. Yes, it is strong through structured and every song would fit perfectly into the radio. The good Mariah has the concept, after having done the previous album, simply continued and little new and experimental purely brought - that's the curse of a functioning scheme. But E = MC² has become a good album, produced great R & B / Pop / Hip-Hop.

1. Album opener "Migrate" is a real crass song, although not particularly lyrically profound. The Whistle-Notes at the beginning, the throbbing beat (the one in offset already in the atmosphere of a late night of partying) and the whole arrangement with T-Pain as a feature to make the song somehow really great (even if Auto-Tune has initially annoyed genuine, it reinforces this slightly gloomy atmosphere; one "accustomed" to it is - Mariah has not really necessary).

2. "Touch My Body" is a cute song which comes across a bit girly. The text is quite nice, Mariah's voice runs here in no way at full speed. The song has a slightly-sounding, pop melody and makes good humor (I really hate that phrase in the music, but it's just so).
After three minutes and twenty-seven seconds Mariah's 18th number one hit, with which you overtook the Beatles for most number-one singles is already over, does not have a WOW-feeling left, but a smile on her lips.

3. "Cruise Control" is a reggae-influenced song that Mariah has recorded with one of Bob Marley sons (Damian Marley). Overall here is to hear a really cool package, but Mariah does not go here even just their vocal limits. Easily recalls the song of The Emancipation of Mimi "Shake it Off" (you can see some parallels to the previous album while listening, here we are again at the concept). The lyrics are about a guy who does not get the Mariah from her mind, no matter where she goes.

4. "I Stay In Love" is a ballad with "classic" R & B beat. The text I find great and very touching, despite Mariah partially half rapped verses. Towards the end of their witness Mariah objections vocal strength (even if it is a good deal become "weaker" in total since the late '90s). I like the song better than me and I think he is one of the highlights on the album.

5. "Side Effects" - WOW. This song is incredibly open, honest and auto-biographical. He is (as some others of Mariah's songs) failed by her marriage to Tommy Mottola and their experiences in this regard. The beat is strong "urban" and bassy, which I do not find here bad. Although Mariah rausbelted not here in frenzied heights their tones or operated in even higher altitudes her whistle register the song is thanks to the great production and the fantastic honest Text is this song a real gem of the album.

6. "I'm That Chick" is influenced by the 70's disco track that is really well produced. The lyrics are to be taken with a lot of humor, so Mariah writes it in her booklet at the beginning of the song ("Do not take this seriously" = Do not take it seriously). If you follow their advice and the song as a whole, and not purely increases in any textual interpretation, I'm That Chick is just a horny fun song with great groove.

7. "Love Story" is how I Stay In Love a ballad and tells of Mariah's love story, not like everyone else is well, but something very special and bring the a few difficulties. The intro with the line "Ay Baybay it will not end" distracts from the real emotion of the song and leaves no right feelings - I would have omitted but smooth.
Overall, the song goes down a little bit and also leaves no real climax arise (within the song).

8. "I'll Be Loving U Long Time" is a good song, which is also well produced genuine and is of never ending love. At the beginning you will be chucked directly into the action, the song begins quasi simply. I think the harmonies not particularly memorable and rather plain. As a highlight, I would not call the song would not have chosen him as a single release. He actually sounds all the same three minutes, I find not so great.

9. "Last Kiss" is another ballad that is quite nice too, but not rankommt I Stay In Love. The song is not as catchy and unassuming - he goes even more under than Love Story. I would dub this as the weakest song on the Alnum.

10. "Thanx 4 Nothin '" is, I think, a great ballad. I like the chorus very well, however, the production underlines not necessarily sung emotion and situation. In any case, a sharp rise from Last Kiss. Mariah sets here vocally sometimes going on and so the song is still a really great, heartbreaking ballad.

11. "OOC" is somehow special. I like the rhythm, the groove and the Arrangement really totally. He feels a bit "Russian" as I think, but of course more subtle. OOC stands for Out Of Control and describes how Mariah feels in the presence of her ex-lovers. The Bridge is weak and not particularly stands out what the song but does not have large-scale demolition. The song stands out in the album really, he likes it very much. In the second stanza Mariah sings the same line, each in a different language.

12. "For The Record" is great! Another ballad with great text that describes the longing for an ex-boyfriend. In the Bridge Mariah quoted the lyrics of their own hits (Mariah halt), which I personally find more clever than bad. Here also a lot of heartache is brought over and I would classify this song in the category of I Stay In Love.

13. "Bye Bye" - which comes to mind only one thing a: cry. The song is insanely good and the text is incredibly sad, and probably goes to everyone who once lost someone who was close to one, really close - like me. Although Beat etc. again distract somewhat from the text, a simple piano accompaniment, as in the following song after that would fit better, the song is still great and a reminiscence of a lost loved one - Mariah sings her father, the 2001 (or 2002) is vestorben cancer. Just sad and touching, of course, if you allow it.

14. "I Wish You Well" is really really great. Mariah sings again Tommy Mottola and will be accompanied only by a piano. The text is heartbreaking, open and honest. Several times cited the good here and the Bible makes the whole song to a counterpoint to the opener "Migrate". It shows that she "it" just still can. The song gives the album a fair bit more depth and bring Mariah back to their roots, he could be just as on their debut album or "Emotions", their second album.

About the title of the album "E = MC²" can now argue. Some say they would equate with Einstein and a genius called (as I think it is a real songwriting and vocal genius, as it occurs only once), while others see the small 2 only as an indication of a second part of the Emancipation of Mimi. I think the title of genius, as he explained what was up with the album: Emancipation = Mariah Carey² - she wanted her be start with the Vorgangeralbum return to the Pop and R & B (and when you hear the last piece) double on the Soul Olympus and "expansieren" what she has done in my opinion.

Bravo, Mariah. Bravo.
