Plastic or metal?

I have the toast n'Egg ordered six months ago and then returned again. The results of egg and toast were excellent. In operation the unit smelled but after so plastic that passed me the appetite for crusty toast. In the operating instructions, an initial odor is mentioned, but if a toaster stinks so he hospitable determined over a long period unwanted "trace elements" into the breakfast bread.
