The second album of Jonathan Jeremiah is quite been different than its predecessor. I also expected me to continue in the style of "A Solitary Man" and was disappointed at first when I heard the CD at the local record store for the first time. Mainly because of the live bonus tracks I got myself then but the Limited Deluxe Edition Amazon and lo and behold, the second time hearing me already liked the whole thing a lot better. While you felt reminiscent of the seventies the first album in so many Crooner, "Gold Dust" is a pop album in the best of British fashion has become. So something like that I would have liked by Coldplay for years. Some songs I felt even on the late Beatles, especially the plays of George Harrison remembered. It's great I think whatever the folky singer / songwriter deposits, of which there are on "Gold Dust" a few are. No, "Gold Dust" smeared over its predecessor is not totally off. It has become a very good album, unlike "A Solitary Man", but with consistently good to very good pieces that perhaps only evolve over its predecessor and must become independent. But honestly: was "A Solitary Man" ever be topped? Was it not perhaps even clever, to do something different? I like the album definitely better with each listen. Maybe I would have initially given only 4 stars. But in the Limited Deluxe Edition with live bonus tracks deserves the full 5 mE, and I'm curious what comes from Jonathan Jeremiah next.
