Privateering (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Redbud Tree: a melancholiches, excellently sung and well-rehearsed piece with a simple, but crystal clear solo. Relatively short-held opener.
Haul Away: a heavy song about death and parting, heartbreaking. (Already played at the Dylan tour).
Do not forget your hat: the brother of "You can not beat the house" of Get Lucky CD. Pure Blues, more want the song not be.
Privateering: Another song of Dylan tour. An acoustic piece on technically highest level, very well sung and one of the favorites. Twice it breaks out then, the folk is loud until calm returns and the song slowly fades with milder Drums as a declining Surf
Miss you Blues: The Notting Hillbilies still alive, according to the booklet ... even - for the first time a cover (!!) - except for the lyrics - clear Dylan influence.
Corned Beef City: catchy melody in the tradition of Knopfler play "Gravy Train" - slide guitar, crawls over time catchy. Classic Knopfler number for higher volume.
Go Love: Slow piece, sung excellent, typical Knopfler guitar lines (somewhat reminiscent of "Madame Gevena" grows after repeated listening to a favorite.
Hot or what: self-ironic blues track, as usual, a few drinks and to the number grooves in the best boogie style. Successful drum work (The change in position of the drummer gets vs. the previous albums noticeable sits none other than Ian Thomas on Kit.)
Yon Two Cons: A touch of "Silvertown Blues" and "Planet of New Orleans" - one of the tracks that you earlier on a later Straits disc could be found, but with partly clear Celtic strike in places where previously the guitar "sung" would. Almost sound design - the console was definitely chock full of tracks.
Seattle: Elegant ballad grand as Knopfler's voice with Ruth Moody blends. Hank Marvin Style guitar, played with a plectrum piece in which indicated the solo at the end is more than played (which by now Knopfler likes to do) - the steel guitar is back - on every street says hello
Kingdom of Gold: heavy Celtic Folk, gloomy, one of the few Celtic impacts of otherwise very American album. Could music a Ridley Scott film. At the end it is almost epic (tinged chorus and everything that goes with it)
Got Something to have: and again breaks through the silence of the blues songs before. Another drink it, and on we go:
Radio City Serenade: similar to "Seattle": developed the "Serenade" for ballads-Pops, Chris Botti's contribution is terrific. The music for the nocturnal journey through New York. What is missing is that Cary Grant with Doris Day is around the corner ... for a visit to the bar was played in the "Got to have something".
I used to Could: Same procedure: The Blues invites you to next Drink.Konsequent the monotonous beat hammering ear
Gator Blood: it's loud on - Gator Blood is the Eastbound Train in 2012. And surprised with unusual, new, bright screaming loud Knopfler tones on the slide guitar, ... Dire Straits the 70 are still alive (!). Really good number of difficult garages rich sound.
Bluebird "Fade to Black" successor with a little more pace - superb harmonica performance.
Dream of the Drowned Submariner: and again as an incredibly dense, poetic ballad that shakes Knopfler on this album effortlessly out of his sleeve. The quiet Knopfler at its best side- sometimes the atmosphere densest song Knopfler wrote in a long time. If at the end uses the typical Knopfler guitar, the Dire Straits fans will come shortly after the house.
Blood and Water: reminds me of "Sucker Row" of "Shangri La", then back to a slower version of "Wag the Dog" -
Today is ok: so that the Blues will not be forgotten, just before closing time again a little jam.
After the Beanstalk: may have come from "Ragpicker's Dream" - at the end of a slightly longer listening pleasure there's again handmade Saloon Music with plenty of harmonica and a little "Daddy's Gone to Knoxville"
Conclusion: an inspired and inspiring, deliberately old-fashioned kept statement against the plastic chart music of the modern age. Sound technically the most interesting disc since "Sailing to Philadelphia" from Knopfler Studios, a good system provided.
The only downside: I do not like fade-outs, a few songs were so destroyed something in the end. But for an entire point would not be deducted for the purposes of completely successful overall appearance.
