To be honest, it's not bad and frankly who would address Theorin for the first time might be satisfied. Though. If part of the island of Oland still exotic for us, I have not found that very special atmosphere that had so pleased me in the previous two, at most some successful passages describing the arrival of spring on island. The actual plot is not exceptional, far from it (I refer in this regard to the summary of Amazon, there is nothing more to say), no real suspense or else so little and incursions into the world of elves and trolls, if they resulted in some pretty extracts prove disappointing to end and leave a feeling of incompleteness.
In short, do not think the author of this novel one, rush instead on the two aforementioned books, they are truly worth and show that Theorin is capable of much better.
