STORY: protagonist John Yesterday has lost his memory. From a wealthy young entrepreneur he was commissioned in the first third of the game, to make inquiries about an ancient, mysterious cult. He had already begun ... before they were interrupted by his suicide attempt this investigation. A hero in the footsteps of the past and that in several respects the Ausgängslage I found interesting. With the further implementation I could not make friends. many plot elements seem to me to wild lumped. True to the motto: Everything that was eventually found to be cool in a movie, a comic, is hineingepackt. I'm missing a clearer concept. The main plot rarely receives the time would probably need (and I have read opposing views). In addition, they will multiply by - measured at the time that they take up - not very informative interrupted flashbacks. That was for me something like this, as we would put in the middle of an action-packed car chase a long flashback to show why the protagonist car drives well. A set häts done. During the first 3/4 hour we do not even play the real protagonist (the demo covers I think mainly this part in the Underground from). The characters I found rather flat and difficult to grasp.
Alternate endings: the showdown are multiple endings to choose from. Until then the game is linear. Who tried all ends, has a few more minutes of the game.
Playing time: Pendulo Studio's point-and-click adventure thriller is well schaffbar in 5-7 hours. It will be below average for many gamers.
PUZZLE: The puzzle design I found OK. The difficulty is mostly easy. Occasionally there can be crisp. Part me oddly placed puzzle fell slightly negative on (keyword chess), but OK. With regard to some puzzles are available in the German version, as far as I know even an improvement to the original version (at least when it comes to those puzzles where multiple objects need to be combined). The German publisher Crimson Cow has not been content with a mere localization and set the wrench at several corners. The help function in the game, I found no matter well. It does not get permanently tips but must between times dare own tests. Maybe the tips could be sometimes more generally.
GRAPHICS / SOUND: the soundtrack can not be faulted and the speech is difficult for me fine. Although one of the Synchro voiceover for my taste could have saved (but who knows a few comments on the English version, knows why that was specially added in the German version ...). For an adventure, the 2D appearance is definitely well done (as long as one of style suits). Only one can argue a little about the 3D aspects of the game. It's the sort of 3D, which clearly struck me each time as a 3D (for me was a good average and not quite up to the amount of time). Visually the typical Pendulo style graphic novel combines aesthetics. The attempt succeeds not bad, for me, the "Thriller" genre simply does not fit the handwriting of Pendulo.
Pendulo's trip to a SERIOUS genre? So I had some problems. Those serious moments where for example someone is ice cold shot of a villain ... who were for me, among other things like trying Pendulo necessarily demonstrate how serious their work is yet. Ultimately DFJY for me was about as if Runaway take a trip to "Batman Begins." Since I am doing my style just very hard to take the matter fairly seriously.
Control / Gameplay: The controller I found awkward (Find other innovative ... well). Attract and combine objects from your inventory designed at least on PC laborious than normal. It may take several attempts before the successful right away. For me, the example has worked out far better in "Runaway". This change in the control is probably the ipad version also appearing together for the game. Anyway. With objects you interact mostly via the detour of hotspots windows. Clicking on a hotspot in the game, so usually appears a comic-like window. The enlarged section to the hotspot does not necessarily mean that you can better recognize objects therein (often brauchts the explanation thereof to realize what good, what could be an important and why). At this window you then usually several options for action (look, use ...). I found a bit awkward, but for all I care.
WHO CAN I recommend? I say it this way: For me Pendulo sets with DFJY in many ways a way continued, the "3 Runaway" was noticeably quiet and at "The Next Big Thing" clearly already at. One can like or not. Who in these games or generally at Pendulo has an increasingly uneasy feeling, should consider buying more. But who is thinking: "Huh, what does he mean That was super!" - Has probably a good chance to feel very comfortable. Likewise, who tends to much dazuzudenken with stories, for example could have a more positive image of the game (and for example some story gaps in the spirit of close itself ...). Maybe.
CONCLUSION: Most of DFJY told me open the act annoyed! The game takes in my view, far too little time for the actual story. The characters I found striking. As a game I just found it unsatisfactory, but ultimately it depends here mainly on how one taste, the story and its implementation. About other possible points of criticism can be overlooked as a rule and after all, the game offers a very solid puzzle board and looks good. Only the mystery food is simply not strong enough to hinwegzutrösten one about the story, if they should a not taste. Even after at DFJY partly collide very conflicting opinions, I stay with my vote very carefully in the middle. Can you love ... you can hate ...
