First I have a SMC Takumar 85mm 1.8 want to try with this adapter at the A7R. But that did not. When screwing on the lens, a resistance was felt as to perhaps half a turn has been missing up to the connection of the adapter front edge to the rear edge of the lens. The inhibition is made by blending the diaphragm driving lever of mechanical auto iris on the front edge of the adapter. Vigorous further turning would have pushed the lever aperture in the lens case and possibly damage the whole diaphragm mechanism. I will visit the relevant forums and search for the necessary modifications of the lens and / or the adapter. In attempting to solve the lens from the adapter, I pulled the visible in the photo silver ring with M42 thread from the black adapter body. Now to me the meaning of the enclosed Allen realized. It serves to be tightened a little screw, which then holds the silver thread ring. The real purpose is likely to be the adjustment of the right Anschraubwinkels the M42 lenses. When very cautious tightening of these small Allen screw I ruined the hexagon. The screw seems to be made to soft material. My M42 Adaper for Canon EF has a 2mm further internal diameter, which leaves free both the aperture control lever and the Abblendstift what works for Takumaren, as they have a manual / automatic sliding button. Maybe I'll use this adapter together with the Canon EF - use Nex adapter.
Since the M42 adapter included with Nex no guidance, more buyers will surely stumble upon the snares of this product.
I would be very happy about tips for a better adapter and for modifying the Takumars.
PS: The combination of M42 and Canon EF Canon EF A7R adapter works after initial trials well. Whether the Unendlichfokus works, I can not find the time because of fog. But it sits all fixed without play.
