The finest mechanics of the L-series, a good transportable weight and top optical performance. Unnecessarily garnered this lens an the best Test score for the Canon system with crop factor 1.6 (300D-400D, 20D-40D).
This is rounded off even with a super image stabilizer of the latest generation. This brings smooth aperture 4 and the results are clearly visible.
Due to the relatively low weight of this lens you like always there and only comes not to ponder as the much heavier more intense version.
Also I miss in today's "digital time". A diaphragm more, which brings, in practice, not really 2.8 / 70-200L IS USM with itself Higher ISO values and image stabilizer make this more than compensates. And the less depth of field, which is used for cropping of motifs in Aperture 2.8 and 4 is practically quite similar. Subjectively, you can tell the difference anyway only if one up to two stops or dims. Tried it a try!
Mention is also worth the great close range of 1.20 m. Most light stronger lenses do not come under the 1.50m limit unaided.
In my view, the more intense version points only when using a teleconverter or extender higher Geschwingigkeit.
All in all, the 4 / 70-200L IS USM a top optics is its price is more than fair and holding the flag of the L-series a little higher!
