"Island of knowledge" is the successor to the "water comes, water goes" of 2007, the sympathetic captains. Was "Water is ..." in my opinion, although pretty good, but on one side and just kind of too much at once, can island knowledge points twice as a logical consequence. Matured are Captain Planet in the past two years. Not only that songwriting has become more sophisticated, lyrically and vocally a lot has changed. When an opener like "whale baby" like never opened longingly a plate, they can only belong to the good. And that is also the main subject of the panel called: longing. Desire for change in the new illuminated here and now, where one notices between verses that but not everything is so rosy in life, as some would like. And that is readily accommodated to the point, without resorting to stereotypes or depression in any Emo. Somewhere all sprayed on "island knowledge" hope, hope which is fueled with each verse, rises against the good old nostalgia and with Baby Melancholy gives the addictive cocktail, the Captain Planet for several years in the cellars, clubs and pubs of the Republic distribute. Even without fucking Happy Hour. Captain Planet are the worthy heir Muff Potter, make German music more interesting. While many now want to delight German bands in cryptic poetry structures and make the listener somehow just know how stupid he really is, they remain straight as ever:
"Life dismantled, stone by stone. Problems played down. When you have given up your base camp?" (From: "The deconstruction")
"So close is pushed to the wall, that you hear the neighbors breathe. Everything feel, but not lonely." (From: "Vom Fass in the Rain")
"And today above all here is so small. Today's up here is almost beautiful, so all alone." (From: "jack")
And I could still quote on. I could quote the verses probably best for 30 minutes have been since Muff Potter's "Good views" (RIP) posted in Germany. If you first become warm with this disc, you want to embrace it until it breaks. It is the soundtrack for jogging, to get up to take a shower, drink a beer, go to the home drunk, to life. The soundtrack "for now, for the same, for all time." Thank you, Captain Planet.
