My first impression of this music, this Cuban drug was simply: wow. Even more pronounced was this amazement (as it were a wow-wow) when I learned more details about the Social Club. About the 90th Segundo who has a voice like a big barrel of rum (if there is rum in barrels), the 80th Gonzalez - who seems to be able to go no more - but playing piano like a young god. The somewhat verranzt acting Ibrahim Ferrer, whose melancholy yearning voice one's heart tears in bitter-sweet way. And all the other characters. The music itself is fantastic as a direct flight to a sunset to Cuba. Who will be watching the movie from Wim Wenders, I think gets even much more intensive relationship with this music. The Buena Vista Social Club plays to dream, to drift away, to cuddle ... a CD collection without this record is incomplete. (This is an Amazon.com at the university-student review.)
