As this live album recorded in 1976 was released in 1977, I was 17. Friends had it already and when I heard it, after speaking to his new band initially not pursued Blackmore after his exit DP further, I was surprised that quality had his new band. On Stage is one of the best rock live albums of all time. That it turns a bit short is certainly the fact that here except Stargazer is the whole live set on it, so the Rainbow- concerts at that time were not much longer (I saw Rainbow 1977 even live), is also limits the capacity of vinyl and a Stargazer 8 minute track is the one on a record - could not also accommodate side.
Regardless, the album is all first class, it's sort Blackmore's second "Made in Japan", with regard to the energy and playfulness.
As Blackmore in his own band of course had all the freedom he shows here more filigree work and ambition than last 1975 Deep Purple.
We on Stage does not yet know and like good rock music should strike here: It is also a reminder of the up to last outstanding singer Ronnie James Dio, the I 2009 or witnessed live with the best voice.
