All Claudel novels I've read so far (gray souls, the granddaughter of Mr. Linh and today's report Brodeck) are always a magical encounter with literature and the fine phrases. Every sentence of this novel, wonderfully written, is filled with poetry despite the darkness of the plot. This novel is breathtaking ... I read it slowly in order to enjoy it longer. Broceck, camp survivor during a war (which one?) Returns to the village and is facing the madness of men. All the inhabitants of this village, which is believed to be located in eastern France, entrust Brodeck, the village writer to whom life is not spared the task of drafting the report on the inevitable crime they committed against all anderrer, which have a foreign knows neither the name nor history, and will settle in the village for some time. First are charmed by his manners and attitude, they will gradually see him as an envoy of the devil. Parallel to this writing, Brodeck tells us his hard life, his experiences and his relations with the locals. It analyzes host small events he set in a parralèle report.
