The subtitle "the power of organizing without organizations" summarizes the book: to understand the operation of our organizations and how new technologies jostle these organizations, with what effects? The balance sheet remains positive view of the author, even if he cites the "losses" (jobs, social conventions and use of mafia and terrorist purposes).
The conclusion to remember:
1. what matters is not how many people I know, but how many genres (diversity vs. number);
2. admirably open systems work well because they reduce the cost of failure, and help integrate the contributions of those who bring an idea (the expression "failure for free" is admirable is makes perfect meaning!);
3. it must break down barriers to cooperation, going against conventional wisdom.
I appreciated the ability of the author to link the basic functioning of organizations in new and emerging phenomena. Recommended!
