Thunderbolt cable is not present in the factory. Unwrapped, used 4 screws of the unfortunately very unstable foot and tightened. Missing height adjustment is already criticized elsewhere for me but not an issue.
Taken with existing Thunderbolt cable into operation. Has in these Macs work right away:
MacBook Pro 13 "(Mid 2012)
MacBook Air (Mid 2013)
Mac mini (Late 2012)
All Macs running under 10.9.5 (Like 10:10 not). No Mac has ThunderBolt 2, it is the old protocol that is not supported according to LG. It's the old OSX, which is also not supported according to LG. But it runs anyway. Namely, in full native resolution without driver without hacks and without any tricks. Plug in, ready. Funzt.
Very pleased with the MacBook Air: I have a Thunderbolt cable directly to the Elgato Thunderbolt Dock 2 (B00PFHLH2I in the Amazon search Enter) connected and there were zero problems. The display was immediately recognized, it was not even necessary to restart! When Mack Book Pro 13 ", a restart was necessary to eliminate certain interference. Then totally reliable operation.
For those wearing progressive lenses, the display is a very clear recommendation. It is made mostly text work and the writing is clear over. An experience was World of Warcraft in the entire width of around 30 frames on the MacBook Air. The mouse movements are almost too long to reach the right positioned tools. It goes to the farms, in the quest overkill (I'm talking about the MacBook Air).
The frame rate is displayed in the system settings at 50 Hz. That's enough for 99.9% of the applications (in my view). Amazon Prime movies run smoothly and without lags or coarse pixels in full resolution a pleasure. Bright Lights!
The USB 3.0 ports are working properly on Thunderbolt. Disturbing is the access to the on-off switch on the back behind the flap. I have therefore left the door away, even if it does not look as good.
I'll say goodbye to the remaining Apple 30 "Cinema Displays. They have been with me a long time and this monitor is doing very well. No reflective display, restrained design, functionality and good standing, acceptable price.
No product is free from blemishes, nothing in life is perfect. The monitor may here and there because of the plastic crack times and not be the ne plus ultra in image processing. I do not care. He can be more hardware (for Mac) compatible than the manufacturers want you to know us and that makes him a tip.
He is the first hardware of LG ever and I am (currently) 100% convinced. Should it change what I'll update my review.
