I bought this for my old HDD (Phat) US PS3 to replace the 60GB Seagate drive.
The installation went smoothly. The plate was immediately recognized by the PS3 and formatted. When restoring my PS3 the speed advantage was immediately visible. The securing of the old 60GB HDD took more than 2 hours. The Restore from the same external drive to the new passed within 1 hour and 20 minutes. In everyday use, the new HDD but also feels much faster. Whether unpacking downloaded demos from the PSN or copy files to different sources. Even the loading of games is noticeably faster. Through the basic volume of the old PS3, the HDD does not noticeable.

For me a clear recommendation that finally want to have space on their Playstation and know also appreciate the speed advantage.
