Overall I found this nice book but he did not transported. The description of the Silo and its organization is well done, well done, not a mad originality either, but the whole is consistent. By cons I found that the story seriously lacked pace was much more interesting passages than others. The end, if a little predictable, is a little more removed and reads more easily.
I could be wrong, but I think this book will appeal probably more uninitiated who will see a good introduction to the genre.
