After I already know the ROG series reasonably well, I knew that the cooling performance has always been very good. And even when that's the case G751 again. I would even say that it is still better than the G73. Very good cooling at very low volume.
About the GTX980m you need not write much indeed. Together with the built-in LG Philips screen (LP173WF4) make current games really fun.
A novelty (at least for me) is that a M.2 SSD is installed. This has the advantage that two connections are available in the first hard drive bay. So you can actually simultaneously operate two hard disks. For this purpose you have to loosen the holder of the M.2 M.2-SSD and also bring a "normal" SATA SSD from the plastic housing. With a bit of tape and a little craft skill has so two disks in the first Bay. (See photo).
A sticking point in the disks is that the second Bay has only one SATA II port. At the present time and at the price actually an absurdity. However, you can block a total of 4 hard drives in the first thanks to the Bay mSATA- and SATA III port if, you take the BD drive also incorporates a hard drive. This works with the here:
The other caddies offered might not fit, even if it is the same height.
Another sticking point is, of course, the sound. Even with the new driver is not really the yellow of the egg. Sure, he is now more acceptable, yet. Asus, you've done it before much better. For example, when G73.
Something else could be a bit better, the keyboard lighting. Yes, the red looks really good and fits the style of the notebook. However, you can see the special characters in the series of numbers (ie! "§ $% ...) recognize something bad because of the red in the dark. With the white keyboard illumination as the G73 that was better.
Otherwise, the notebook makes but really fun. In other reviewers have already written enough.
Finally, a tip if you want to replace the included SSD.
Mich has driven almost to despair, this surely that is quite simple.
In the absence of settings in the BIOS (UEFI or Legacy mode) installation of Windows does not work on a fresh SSD, when booting from DVD or USB. The installation is simply denied.
You have to walk a detour to make it. One has namely reset the notebook to factory settings, but with the desired SSD.
These are brought out the Asus Backtracker tool ([...]) and therefore equipped USB flash drive. Then removes all (!) Hard drives one (Namely all installed hard disks are reset) and plug into a new, desired SSD. After that you start from a USB stick and follow the instructions for resetting. After a short time then you have a freshly installed new laptop with SSD.
The BIOS to get the way with the ESC key. Just after turning quickly to press the ESC key until the startup menu appears. There you can select the "Settings" item and to get into the BIOS.
Overall, I am not completely satisfied because the SATA II port, the missing BIOS Einstellunsmöglichkeit and slightly worse readable lighting. Nevertheless, the laptop is really a buy recommendation. Powerful, fast, and extremely ingenious ways with four hard drives.
Nevertheless dan Items since no 5 points. Rather 4.5 but I have to round down to 4.
