Western Digital offers several product lines to its hard drives: Black stands for the highest performance, Blue is the representative of the middle class, Red is mainly for NAS and RAID systems are used and Green is synonymous with energy efficiency. This copy is the Green series assigned and should therefore be very efficient in energy use. As a normal user, I can not verify this course itself and therefore have to rely on the expertise of several scientific journals that actually also certify that energy efficiency of the hard drive. What interests me more for that performance brings the hard disk and whether the energy-saving measures not steal too much speed. However, measured here by myself with the CrystalDiskMark program values are beyond reproach and suggest that this HDD is extremely fast to work:
Sequential Read: 140 853 MB / s
Random Read 512KB: 52 786 MB / s
Rd Read 4KB (QD = 1): 0.808 MB / s [197.2 IOPS]
Rd Read 4KB (QD = 32): 2,054 MB / s [501.6 IOPS]
Sequential Write: 123 362 MB / s
512KB Random Write: 126 920 MB / s
Rd Write 4KB: 2,003 MB / s [488.9 IOPS]
Rd Write 4KB: 1,967 MB / s [480.3 IOPS]
The hard drive is in operation also exceptionally quiet and barely heats up, so I can definitely also recommend the installation in noise- and heat-sensitive AV equipment.
From me, there's a strong buy recommendation, full 5 stars.
