Risen 3 is an advanced Risen 2 with bonds from Risen 1 and Gothic. As usual there is a high degree of freedom and a dense atmosphere. The islands are well done, but a coherent world would have been better for the flow of the game and the atmosphere. The story is so-so, but the side quests is quite entertaining. The return of guilds and magic are definitely a step in the right direction. But whether any guild requires a peculiar magic system is questionable. I would have rather guilds that would specialize in one aspect was such magic, melee or ranged. The combat system is better than in Risen 2, but no revelation. Instead of guns and muskets, I had seen two-handed weapons, shields and bows rather in the game. It would be interesting also a perk as build traps for a tactical combat way or hunting of animals. Interacting with water barrels is also well done. There should also be an animation for the consumption of food and potions. The moral system is a nice innovation that unfortunately is far-reaching enough. There is much room for improvement. Conclusion: More Gothic into play. And if there should be DLCs, please introduce two-handed weapons, shields and arches into play.
