This disc may surprise (or disconcert) at first listen those who learned their orchestral music of Debussy through superb impressionist versions of Abbado (especially his collaborations with the Berlin Philharmonic) can be a little less those who enjoy Extraordinary Boulez recordings, both rigorous and sensual, in the 60 at CBS. Here, Mikko Franck and the Radio France Philharmonic (with desks particularly concentrated and inspired) as have decided to break with the current canons of orchestral performance (the famous trend homogenizing orchestras in terms of a model essentially "Anglo-Saxon" ...). The playing characteristics that prevail are those that have been traditionally associated with French performers and yet we often have the opportunity to hear this level of perfection: transparency, exigency, clarity and simplicity of orchestra with astounding honesty underline the complexicités unheard of these works without falling in aridity and even less in the search for originality or beautiful sound at all costs; all this is not foreign to the talent of wind instruments, especially the game Magali Mosnier, flute solo, which gives us an exceptionally inhabited vision of the introduction to the afternoon of a faun. In short, if it does not affect the aforementioned qualities of great recordings, this CD presents a return to healthy and invigorating sources of this part of the orchestral works of Debussy, and it is said that one would love to hear the rest .....
