AFTER PURCHASE: that is now my 3tes Asus Tablet ships in 12 months. I've been happy for a day, because it is for me a great working tool for presentations and for checking our website developments. The recovery partition is deleted, so I have 56GB memory, it runs W8.1Pro because the challenge our company policies.
Today it died 2 times the "sleep of death". So it was only be switched on by a hard reset again. I am something of disappointed! It costs almost a day's work, to make a new Tablet fit for the enterprise environment. Of course I have the latest BIOS 210, latest Wacom drivers etc uploaded. First of all, all techn. Work that I describe here, imo are totally unacceptable for a layman!
And since I'm obviously not alone, I am surprised that there is no single content interesting article about it on the internet. Of course, nothing of Asus, which let the customer return the unit to Arvato (the nightmare par excellence), where it is put into the delivery status and without further troubleshooting and without any error indication in the repair report comes back. The last tablet we bought a company in PC-King. Since it took over 6 months until we had our moneys worth.
ADDENDUM: after a long search I found an article at WPCentral who proposes to turn off the power saving mode of the USB Root controller. That goes into the machine control. There are under the power management unit a checkbox "compter can turn the power off to save power". That's what I did last night, and, surprise, surprise, this morning, the tablet could wake with a simple keystroke.
So, after almost another 2 days the problem has not occurred again. So I correct my vote clear to the top! The "workaround" to the internal USB controller works without significant battery power.
20/08/2014 solutions:
2 problems I could despite intensive "research" does not really solve:
a) the time and again the arising "Deep sleep of death", which, for example when moving from the office environment to customers WLANs occurred.
b) the extreme Akkuentlehrung in standby mode, which emptied the tray overnight. The board means of diagnosis (powercfg) could be wg. not use alleged Authorisierungsprobleme
What have I done? I changed from W8.1Pro to W8.1 back. Lo and behold, without exception everything is working properly. To conserve battery power, but connected via Bluetooth devices must be disconnected after use. I have a small keyboard, which I turn off overnight.
The lack of Bitlocker to encrypt the SD card to protect my data in case of theft can easily be "deal": it encrypts the card in his first PC (with W8.1Pro) by assigning a password. When they end up in the tablet, you must enter it only once and the card can be both decrypted as encrypted even when taking back.
My research on the net revealed that many problems occur only with the German, better not American versions of W8.1Pro.
