On the bottom end of the world where mobiles have reduced people to the zombie state, it follows a pattern dear to King: put normal people in a context of crisis, shake it all and watch the panel of reactions that s' emerge in, with a preference for heroism "ordinary", who, step by step, little act after small act leads to save the world.
The first chapter is effective, we go directly into the heart of the matter: dark Boston into madness. However, already hovers a sense of déjà vu that will dominate much of the book. The theme of the end of the world has already been exploited in the Scourge, but unlike the trilogy where King had chosen a multiple narrative perspectives that allowed the reader to find the keys to understanding, here I I was frustrated. We do not know who, what, how, and the end does not solve anything, from this point of view there. The characters, as often with King, have hunches that turn into absolute certainty and advance understanding that the reader of the plot. The problem here is that S. King chose characters who have absolutely no way to approach the truth. Recognizing the need for explanations, it therefore takes stock of species that are more pirouettes vision or miracle (I am thinking of the story of the worm) and is not supported by any tangible evidence or Another element already seen.
Nevertheless, despite its (large) reserves Cellular reads quickly, evidence that he has still managed to snap me.
