Shipping Problems
The shipment of major equipment is always problematic. This has been confirmed again in this apparatus. The scarifier is mounted on a (later to be disposed of) metal frame and folded cubical. The whole rests on a powerful cardboard and is fixed therein against light shocks by stable cardboard and metal braces. But UPS (or an upstream forwarder) has once again managed to push open the box with a corner hard. This is a wheel (rear left) strongly bent inward and can no longer be rotated. Also, a side edge of the metal cover plate on the collection box was pressed. Both I was able to again largely addressed, but scratches and slight inconsistencies still remain. This is unacceptable for all customers to shell out the good money. My recommendation is therefore once more: Buy those things better in a garden or hardware store, then you will have no trouble with returns.
Assembly
The enclosed instructions explain how the transport frame must be dismantled. You must attach the mounting bracket on the two extension rods to the chassis then only. Filling
Of course, our scarifier needed food, and that means: oil (10W30 - 0.4 liters) and gasoline ("lead-free" - max 2.5 liters.). For two-stroke engines known to be a gasoline-oil mixture is required. However, this is not necessary in our case (four-stroke).
Filling the engine oil gets to Russian roulette. First, the filler neck shows (also thread the dipstick) only slightly upward (angle of inclination less than 45 degrees). That's why you have to pour carefully, otherwise a lot of running next to it. The quantity of oil can not be controlled during the filling. Multiple must dipstick in and out screws (many revolutions!). I have, to make it easier for me, the device is tilted so that the nozzle extends vertically upwards. Then the indicated amount can pour easily. Then you should definitely consider the actual but the oil level and, if necessary. Refill.
Unlike the loading Fill the de-emptying sump (oil change) is solved very well because there is a separate drain plug. This simplifies the work considerably.
What type of gasoline is to be used? Super petrol is offered as E10 or E05. Unfortunately, these is nothing in the documents. If in doubt, here is recommended to use the proven and easy expensive variety "Super E05". The filling itself is without any problems.
Commissioning
For safety reasons you should only fire up the engine when the scarifier standing on the grass. In the moment when the four-stroke starts, is already rotating the roller!

First practical experiences
I am not an experienced professional in dealing with verticutters still such in the operation of small gasoline engines. But one thing I am certain: the owner of a nearly hopeless mess of lawn. The collector is, depending on the nature of the lawn and, depending on the working depth, in a short time full and must be emptied. Although the gasoline engine is not too loud, you'd better wear ear protection. This makes work much more pleasant and peaceful.
Overall judgment for my first test track: Very good! The device is easy to use and permits precise work. Strong unevenness in the lawn at times lead to a stop of the engine, namely when the roller suddenly must scour too much material. But that's not surprising.
What you must not do!
Unlike a lawn mower whose rotor never touches the flat earth, the scarifying goes deeper and mills the lawn by downright. This is precisely the purpose of the scarifier. The problem here are all located in the lawn debris such. B. insert sleeves for rotary clothes dryers. Then you should examine your lawn before you start working. And most green areas are surrounded by stone boundaries. These must be left out during scarifying. Otherwise, the roller is likely to be quickly dull or even take more damage.
