A young journalist finds in the archive of their newspaper in which she is looking for material for a story, old love letters. These love letters are so beautifully written that they researched further and stumbles upon a long past love story. How much this story it affects themselves and their relationship with a married man, she realizes only in the course of time.
Personally, I liked the story a bit better in the past, especially because it gives a good insight into the social conventions of the women from "good families". I did not realize how cramped in a social corset, women in the sixties were still. Educated to help the man to social prestige. A figurehead that was nice to look at, perfect in the art of conversation and in organizing festivals. One experiences in this book have a woman who tries to usurp this corset from the body and despite the loss of friendships consistently comes their way. But the focus of this book is of course the deep connection between two people, their love must experience many fateful twists. That the words that were then expressed in letters, touching even today and bring people to the dreams that one experiences in the presence of this history, in which the journalist Elly writes itself with her boyfriend only steno like SMS and therefore all the more avid found on the Love Letters ruled. She also wants such a deep attachment to a partner and to reconsider its current relationship with a married man.
I enjoyed this book very much, both of her story, as well as the writing style. So I will certainly grab even to other books of this author and perhaps to her immensely successful book "Me before you."
