Dakota 20 is a very versatile GPS that can be used by car, bike, boat, on foot ... Nevertheless, its main destination is the hiking or cycling. I think his weight of 200 grams and its relatively bulky do not intend it to a sports or are looking lightness to any property prices it is able to restore the heart rate and cadence with accessories Garmin appropriate. The screen, despite its small size is very readable. It can be criticized a lack of brightness in direct sunlight, but visibility would mean less autonomy. Both batteries weigh about 100 grams or half the total weight of the GPS and autonomy is 10 hours with rechargeable NiMH batteries. I tested it with lithium batteries and in this case 20 hours is exceeded by setting correctly (use of intermittent screen). The numerous menus and settings make it very convenient and versatile GPS maps used next. It is sensitive and quickly picks up satellite signals even under trees. I used bicycle and easily tells me the road to follow. I use the MapSource software to program my routes and Dakota guide me with arrows like in a car once the file is loaded. Provide test outputs to configure it properly and thus have full confidence in him. I have not had any problems of sealing far although I have used in the rain. I attributed it 4 stars because the Dakota is delivered bare, one might say, with only one very brief World card and USB cable. No support is provided, no real card, no batteries, no microSD card, no car kit, you have to buy everything and that's a shame because these accessories are not cheap and they are nevertheless useful and necessary for the Dakota is not a simple electronic compass.
