When the first worm came, it has flashed briefly and then the fuse was down ... a bit annoying, so I have the circuit breakers just a short piece of tape (which stops at the way very good!) Stuck, so that they no longer fall can. The result was stunning! The worm come, the bed and climb up before they touch the second track of the copper band already the spark jumps across and the muck critters are grilled right! The time now is really fun evening to sit in the garden and watch as a worm after another falls into the trap. Some explode properly, sticking another and even catch fire short - looks absolutely awesome! My neighbors and passers-by who remain go past the garden are always excited and watch the spectacle - I've been wondering if I should pour drinks, so many onlookers, as I have now and then!
Now the downside of my "invention" that I do not want to leave unmentioned. First, the matter is not completely harmless. The other day was trying a cat on my raised bed to climb and came up somehow in the circuit ... not sooo great. The animals seemed that as if it had a little too long located at the grill and it was a cat and not otherwise an animal I only because since the incident one is missing in the neighborhood know ...
Furthermore, the structure is not quite VDO compliant. An acquaintance of mine is an electrician and was of my innovation not as thrilled and labberte something of danger to life and so on - well, just ordinary skill idiot. Probably just jealous because he did not have the idea ...
What is even more problematic is the rain! Last when it was raining led to the fact that the outline of the raised bed to flash something and steam began and also went quite the power consumption in the highest! I have therefore now ordered me a rain sensor with relay, the heavy rain shortly off the worm fence (which is stupid but because just come when it rains many snails!). I wonder why more so to build a kind of little over roof (ie only on the two bands). Would have possibly with a water drip as it is available in the building materials trade can do well.
Oh yes - in very dry you should turn off the fence! It may happen otherwise namely that a burning worm falls into dry grass and the whole area is on fire! In respect it, I am still on the search for an automated solution.
One thing to bear in mind yet. If you have children or other people unless you want to harvest themselves, should not make better use of the fence. Two weeks ago, my cleaning lady wanted to take a few tomatoes and came up with the leg to the snail trap ... not so good ... even worked through the pants and she was a bit taken aback and after contact with hair standing in the garden and wailed around a bit ... well, luckily keep Poland from so few and with 10 euro tip was the thing ;-) also quickly forgotten.
Anyone who has read this far and still believes, that I have really built so who believes probably all that's on the news and in the picture is - in this sense, a happy day even ;-).
