Preliminary you have to say clearly that the SZ3 screams out for good lighting to make good pictures. If this is met, there is nothing to complain about at the pictures. Please do not let convince you that a similar price to the other makes it much better. There are differences, but they all boil with water and fight in this price range with the same problems.
The telephoto (10x zoom) reaches 25-250 mm small picture, which is a very good area for almost everything. Since the aperture of WW from 3.1 to 5.9 in telephoto rises (light transmission is less) is here a shake in low light faster.
The creative programs are a gimmick, but with what you can achieve really good effects.
The video format is VGA or 720p in MOV, which in my opinion, due to the large files is not optimal.
A H264 codec comes here on only 30% of the data volume. The videos are good but.
What is good:
- Price
- Weight / Size
- Images with enough light
- 10x zoom
- Creative programs
- Video Quality
- Good autofocus
- Cheap replica batteries (10)
What's not so good:
- Images in low light (indoors)
- Video Size (MOV)
Conclusion:
Who mainly looking for a cheap camera for shooting outdoors, which should not be too expensive or too difficult to endorse in excursions and hikes, is well advised with the SZ3. If the cost or little ones can snap sometimes. There is something better for darker environments. The best camera is but the ones you have at it.
