Nevertheless, even today there are better and worse, and just exceptional title. Machinarium is one of my opinion on these exceptional titles. It is, though in the heart an adventure in the best tradition, so fresh and new, and in almost every respect: scenario, characters, graphic design and music and, above all, in ingenuity.
The graphics are already alone a reason to love the game. There are no pre-rendered backgrounds and no 3D landscapes: The environments are hand drawn, namely in such a beautiful style that you have to say to art. This complements the beautiful, quiet background music to a captivating, slightly melancholic atmosphere.
But Machinarium is not a game that pulls the player into the melancholy. On difficult to describe, it combines the atmosphere with an attention to detail and a joke that in every animation show from New: Even the little robot, the hero of the story is so cute designed and brought to life, it is the hardest heart softened. He swallows objects down if you collect, or is it also sometimes as a hat on. He can make accordion-like long and thin, in order to reach high points, then he stalks on his two short legs awkward through the countryside. Or he compresses flat to reach deep places, he wobbles as small robot Klops through the area and in front of the screen you can not help but smile at the cute design. The dialogues are told in animated cartoons. It's hard to describe, but implemented wonderfully. And in almost every picture that I have visited, I had to laugh out loud or groan about the lovable animations least once.
Machinarium is certainly not the most difficult adventure, which I've ever played. The areas are usually not too big, you will rarely longer hang. And to get it was not advancing, trumps the game with another strength: the really great support system. Do you need a little tip, you can view the current thinking of the robot, which usually show a the next larger target. And it still remains one helplessly stuck, you can open the secret game guide in the game and take a look at a picture book illustrating in detail-drawings, the next steps exactly. This system also allows adventureunerfahreneren games easy access to the game, and thus makes before, what other genre representatives could learn a lot. Especially nice: you have to earn sideways scrolling minigame is the view of the game guide only by a small (but mostly simple).
Long story short: Machinarium is a wonderful game. Because of its unique drawbacks (it is a bit short fall) I would like to be awarded 4 1/2 points. But since this does not work, I reach with a clear conscience to the five stars. I can therefore easily recommend it to anyone, whether it is adventure fan or whether he simply in the cold winter months, the heart may warm up a bit himself. The game is worth every penny.
