A beautiful evocation of slavery, without the details given are too hard to read by quite young children. Nevertheless, we can see the horrors of slavery and the different possible situations: slaves in the house, on plantations, leaks, maroons, etc ... The novel is enjoyable to read, because it follows the life of Ana, 10, chef girl in Africa, who lost his father during his capture, and his mother in the boat. Not everything is always horrible, since it also meets people she will attach. And the end is hopeful. A pretty novel thus to evoke slavery with younger, dautant that despite a very smooth playback, all is explained, no need prior knowledge to understand. Again, Pascale Maret, a painful subject, we concocted a story that is both exciting and informative.
