First some clarification: The Q2 Cube is an English product released in 2011, the production seems stopped. This explains the price differences between models.
Furthermore, contrary to what is highlighted in the item description of this product, it is a simple wifi internet radio. No MP3 player let alone a clock radio.
I myself have bought for the sole function radio wifi internet, and after a week of use I am very satisfied.
My criteria were a wifi internet radio:
- Simple to operate.
- Simple to use
- WITH rechargeable battery mains and therefore transportable WITHOUT wire from one room to another. Old fan of Claude François I in fact much distrust with electrical appliances to plug-in to use the bathroom, and in addition I hate constantly plug and unplug electrical appliances.
- Not too expensive.
This Q2 CUBE meets all the criteria above, with the following features:
Setting:
- You need to download software on the internet for the set. That did not cause any problems.
- You must enter the wireless security key of your box in the program, which is not complicated when you have not lost, but it does mean that there is no WPS. (Unless I am mistaken)
- The software is easy to use. You can easily find the stations you want to put in the cube.
- You can not put that 4 stations in the cube, which some may find a bit tight. (But you can always change a station or by connecting its 4 Cube on his computer with the above mentioned program).
Total time to set the Cube: about 20 minutes.
Use:
It's a breeze. You turn on Q2 (it's not complicated it is only one button on the back of the beast), and after a connection to your wireless network (ten seconds in my case) the radio starts.
To change the station: each face of the cube is a resort, so just rotate the cube on its axis to change the station. The faces are identified sticks (January-April sticks)
To increase or decrease the sound: just tilt the cube forward or backward to change the volume. If we want the immediate silence, we put the face of the speaker "on shore" and the sound is muted.
Another very satisfying point to note: the change from one to the other station is almost instantaneous. For using other wireless radios, there is often a lag of several seconds when changing station. Not with the Q2 Cube.
Simpler, you die.
Battery life:
At the level of the battery, I use about an hour a day in the morning, between bathroom, kitchen, living (being wireless, you lug around with you on without any problem, and the FM reception areas difficult it's very nice to move a radio without losing the flow and having to turn the dial or direct the radio in search of the wave train). I have not yet needed to recharge my Cube, given for 4 hours of battery life, but it seems a low range. Normally when start to be a little short on battery level, there is a button that will flash.
Sound:
At level sound is quite acceptable. You will not open a nightclub with but a priori it is not intended for that. As we obtain the equivalent of a great FM reception, with a relatively rich sound for such a small box. After a week of use, I note that I have absolutely NO suffered underrun.
Quality Value:
The rate level is very honest, as most radio wifi they do not have a built-in battery and are often 2 or 4 times more expensive.
Aesthetics:
This will be my only complaint: the aesthetics of Q2 Cube, available in several shades, is not very convincing. It is above all a matter of taste, and it's mostly a detail, from the moment when one considers that the radio is made to be listened to, not watched.
In conclusion:
An item that meets all my needs, fun and easy to use, with exceptional value for money.
Article indispensable in all rural areas underserved by FM (provided you have an ADSL connection, of course).
