The installation of Linux Mint ran without problems, I do not even have to go into the BIOS and adjust any settings. Simply from the USB stick to boot, install the SSD and restart. I have chosen even a complete encryption of the system. Nevertheless, the notebook boots in seconds up to my desktop. The HD4600 works factory, for Optimusverbund with the Nvidia graphics card, I had to re-install only bumblebee. I had to make a few settings, but could very easily be ergoogeln. In the end, I can now start any application using "optirun application" with the much more potent GT755M. I have tried many free games like OpenArena, FlightGear or 0AD, but also commercial (Windows) games like Sacred 2 running very smoothly with wine.
At normal work without utilizing the second graphics card, the notebook is incredibly quiet, not least because of the SSD, which are in principle not make a sound. The keyboard is a dream. I tried before buying some Tasturen various other manufacturers (Acer, HP, Asus, and others) and was amazed at how incredibly bes ******* all Tasturen were up on the Lenovo. The backlight is not the icing on the cake. Was not a must, but Missen I do not want it.
The only really bad thing about the notebook is the touchpad. In a classical Left or right click the mouse pointer always distorts the position. I have solved by two things: On the one hand I click with a simplified Tap on the touch pad, right-click I do with two taps (middle click with three). Furthermore, I will disable Linux Mint the touchpad when I am typing. Otherwise my palm would often move the cursor and at worst also click yet, so windows can lose their focus. In addition, disable the touchpad when a mouse is attached.
But that's the only slight drawback. The battery life is sufficient to 3h for such a Rechenmonstrum. At least for my purposes. The screen has good contrast, beautiful colors and above all nice matt. For Shaving I suppose he prefers the HD webcam than mirroring me directly in the monitor. ;) The i5 processor gives me thanks to Hyperthreading 4 logical cores, more than adequate for my needs. Even larger source code kompillieren like wildfire.
The 4 GB of RAM I have not exploited until now. I let a 64 bit run system, but even these uses the memory has not been fully made. I think an upgrade does not make sense at the moment. The connections of the device are standard. 3 USB ports, VGA port, HDMI port, network connection and everything is working to the complete satisfaction. When I read from the SD card reader, I can s write to the internal SSD with 50MB /. I find that remarkable (although personally the comparison is missing me, I usually only used PCs HDD). The sound is also really good for such a small thing.
All in all a great device. I wrote to him, the present review, and it was really fun to touch. I was a little scared, how well it runs with Linux and how strong compromise I have to go, but in the end is for me the perfect machine for working, playing and programming. And send it sees the possibility of yet. ;)
