This webcam has a decisive disadvantage. The driver CD requires a completely unfiltered access to the Internet and does not install the software, if this is not available. Anyone wishing to use this camera to work where a proxy server filters the Internet traffic, can get into a situation where it is not possible to install the camera on the CD. The same applies for jobs without the Internet. I could not make it with admin rights.
Fortunately, the camera of Windows7 and Windows XP is recognized as a normal VGA camera without driver. The hardware requirements are very low and it runs even on a 1.6 GHz Centrino laptop properly and delivers a significantly better image than regular VGA webcam.
We can only hope that Microsoft's driver issue with an update yet redeemed.
