Now I was a big fan of for years Creative Fatality Gaming Pro. But again and again I thought to myself: You're a very passionate gamers (FPS like CoD, Half Life 2 deathmatch, Crysis 2 and 3, Team Fortress, CS ...) and all other buy expensive headsets and you who else but the Coal raushaut, have a 29 Euro headset? So I tried by. The Tritton 5.1+ is already too long ago, the listening experience I have already forgotten. I just know that I have sent it back. On my Creative I like the bass-heavy, powerful sound! And this wired surpassed by any still so expensive gaming headset. That is the first point which can lead to disappointment. But you have to admit it to the fine crystal-clear sound of the A40. Bass disturb the ability to locate opponents. One of the main characteristics of gaming headsets. How many times it happened to me that I have reloaded and an enemy then turned and killed me. And not for nothing, there are for example: in games like CoD Ghosts the concept of "sound fornication". Bass is not locatable. And bass frequencies superimpose higher frequencies: the problem now is a headset with a lot of bass can afford good resolution at the opponent localization. Therefore all the good gaming headsets are much less bassy.

The A40 solves the problem with various pre-programmed settings. So you can adjust the MixAmp a basslastigeren sound for music and for film and a very clear for games. My first gameplay were bomb. I was once again abused as a cheater. I had ne insane KD in MW3 of about 4 and was fascinated by how clearly I could hear now that opponents could come. Clearly, much is lost in the fray, but with practice you can use this to their advantage very. Yesterday I played Search and Destroy in MW3 and every time I watched the last surviving, I always thought, "Oh man, left, left .... Turn to the left, there is a" ZACK .... DEAD! Alone in the menu you are impressed by the surround sound.

But it's not a cheap pleasure. That is why I ordered the day before and also after that the Turtle Beach PX21 and the Sharkoon X-Tactic S7 7.1. The Turtle Beach for about 70 euros was really feeble. That was not fun, and the resolution was good but far from Astro. The Sharkoon has first let me wrap my Astro: 250 euros is a lot of money and if a 89 Euro headset nearly the same sounds good, then I use the right of withdrawal. The Sharkoon has a very powerful sound and a great resolution. At first you're excited. The Cable Comfort, the connections, the cable length and the ergonomics, although clearly impractical solved as the Astro, but I did not at the price difference does not matter. But I could play after 10 minutes that hurt me the sound almost to the ears. It does not matter even if I played softly, the mix was ugly. Very unbalanced and many sounds are represented very shrill. The space was very good, but I could not play with it soon. Unpacked The Astro again and enjoyed the sound. It was like a mud pack for the ears ;-)

Comfort, appearance and finish are top. Now again briefly, why you should not expect miracles. As I said, the sound is not as punchy like my cheap Creative. Then the following is annoying: the cheap headset I connect directly via jack on the sound card to which the output to the speakers is automatically suppressed. All headsets are equipped with an external sound card, or sound processor amp must be activated in the Control Panel or even disabled, you want to change (in BO2 this must even be also specially made in the settings) headphones to speakers.
The manual is very poor. There is no troubleshooting (what my thing could be explained with the Control Panel) and a document explaining the MixAmp and example: explains the different sound settings. I would expect at the price.
Finally, the noise when the amp is approximately more than 60% volume. You do hear it only in eg loading pauses when it is absolutely silent. This is not a problem but Astro is on each headset with ext. Soundcard so (ie Turtle Beach, Sharkoon, etc.).
Good is still the support of Roxxgames. The manager himself answered my Noobfragen Sunday night at 0h within minutes and have even 2, 3 replies to requests for!

5 star even though I have something to complain about? Yes, because what I bought this headset: a great advantage while playing by top-resolution sounds and a pleasant beautiful, harmonious sound is 100% fulfilled. The small negatives (poor instructions, Systemsteurungfummelei and not just the MEGA BASS sound) values ​​might depend on 4.7 stars. Power, rounded, 5 star!

One can say with complete right: there is no better gaming headsets. Saves you the Durchprobiererei ;-) If the Astro suits the budget, then you chooses. Last but not least: it looks (in white) mega sexy and has more style than, say, the Black-Red Sharkoon. But that's a matter of taste! ;-)
