Please do not misunderstand, this is not given the impression that a group of well abgehangener 40+ on Devil come-out to try their former highlights hinterherzuhecheln. The Beastie Boys sound rather like getting out of the fountain of youth.
For example, in a stunning duet with Nas TOO MANY RAPPERS, in which it is hard to believe at the impressively fresh verses, how long the parties are already in business. Or make some noise, a driving funk song, with stunning rhythms. Who to not automatically bobs and grooving, well I do not know. What finally comes out with this album, the Beastie Boys play their instruments and deliver as a band, not just as a hip hopper exceptional. Another face-off tip, the Santigold Duet DO NOT PLAY NO GAME THAT I CAN NOT WIN, an infectious reggae sunshine (and I'm not a friend Reggae) or dry Punk Rock by Lee Majors Come Again.
All in all: Sustainable proved that they (still) have what it takes. The Beastie Boys true, after all, already in the 80 old-school when they were supposed to be young-school. So it is no surprise very little that they adapt to any current trends or they take any notice. Gifted musicians and rappers who know their comfort zone and do not want to leave what at least I am very grateful to them.
Or to put it with Adrock, "Oh, my God, just look at me / Grandpa been rapping since '83!"
05/05/2012: Oh man, all the best and thank Adam for what you have created and leaves.
