Built on solid references, recalled at the end of 10 pages, the book leaves the simplistic extension that characterizes most of the books published in recent years. But, and this is its greatest strength, in my opinion, it manages to remain very accessible to all audiences.
The results of scientific studies punctuate the various chapters, which themselves end with a small summary box particularly well seen :)
Nicolas Gauvrit returns to many questions around children & adults HQI / THQI, based on scientific facts and which take into account the nuances rarely withholding ordinary when it comes to these issues.
For example, the pages related to the lack of attention & ADD-H are exciting. Just as the reflection on the sampling;)
As are generally all topics :)))
I was pleased to read that I am "twice exceptional" (being, as he says, "both gifted autistic &"). I did not know the term, but I like it a lot !!! ^^
Nicolas Gauvrit also devotes several very interesting passages to Asperger syndrome. He affirms that the estimated proportion of individuals meeting the criteria of SA would be one in 1,000.
He also writes something that surprised me because both my Aspies contacts on the group dedicated to SA I created or through my various & varied readings (literature, testimonies) I up now found the exact opposite?
"It is not uncommon for children with Asperger's Syndrome (high functioning autistics) get very low scores in verbal reasoning, but show excellent working memory, perceptual reasoning amazing & good processing speed" .
It seemed to me precisely that Aspies were quite comfortable & efficient in verbal sphere! ?? So I'm not saying this is wrong, this should probably concern a part of those with Asperger autism; but there are also people who are in a reverse configuration with an ICV> IRP (& with often, with scores that cap in this area).
In conclusion, this is a really great book, whose reading is extremely pleasant & exciting!
I can only recommend it highly to all! Parents of EIP, gifted themselves, teachers, doctors. It is truly to be all hands !!! : D
