I may be naive, but I am assumed that I easily can connect eg via USB to any PC that recorded with photos and music disk. Only in the installation instructions there was a note: Attention, the hard drive is formatted directly to a Windows PC !. On demand the answer -echt schnelle- NETGEAR Support (compliment) by email:
"The plates in Stora can be used only in the Stora or possibly with a Linux system. The format is XFS format and the system Debian Linux supports this format. With Windows PCs the flat traveling are always formatted."
One can the file system so do not choose, as with some other manufacturers in this price range. I also found afterwards on the Internet or brochures no indication of this restriction. Since the unit is anyway directed the home user, I am against the uncomprehending. Therefore, only one star.
For the network - beginners, who works with Linux, here are a few pointers:
Installation is easy. There is no German, but only an English manual. I find the (German) Users surface not self-explanatory, so that one of English should be powerful, to have fun with your device. What the record straight so does or what not, can not be easily controlled, at least I have not found anything. Mirror data worked. More I did not try, because the device is already on the way back to the shop.
