OFTEN REQUIRES RESEARCH

The principle of this key is simple: it can create its own local Wi-Fi network (which can be secured by WPA2) and allows devices connected to this network to transfer and receive files to or from the key, view photos, listen to music or view up to 3 streaming videos (maximum flow: 6Mbps for all the ViaMichelin video). An interesting idea when you see the small size of the product that one can take him anywhere in his pocket.

I mainly focused on the chronic problems that may be encountered and possible solutions that can be implemented. I will not repeat what is in the Amazon description because it seems totally unnecessary.

The main interest of this key seems to be his size and strength the possibility of media streaming.

Some basic flaws:
- Failure to support PhoneTools (SanDisk says this is under consideration but I think if that were to happen, it would be on a new version of the key, not with a simple firmware upgrade).
- This key is USB 2.0 which impedes the flow map (measurements by a laboratory: 14 MB / s read and 8MB / s write)
- Wi-Fi very poor performance (measured by a laboratory: 1.6 MB / s read and 0.8 MB / s write)
- Applications rather "rustic", not very pleasant to use and which lack some features, such as the audio level.
- The wireless range announced at 50m. I do not know where Sandisk measured this range, probably on a football field. In housing, we find the same problems as with any Wi-Fi network and the reach is much lower from that there are obstacles. It remains in my view sufficient (especially that one can position the key to a "strategic" location) but hey, if we could avoid taking us for pigeons ...
- The manual is outrageous as it contains practically nothing. The support page announced in the French site Sandisk is actually a link to the US site support page on which detailed manuals are available in English and the most frequent questions and answers are in English. In fact, to find a little French, it must pass by the site DIRECTLY "Assistance SanDisk." Manuals are always in English but the questions / answers in French. Not being able to find a manual in French is shameful.

Problems encountered by users:

- "It is not possible to operate in parallel with its usual wifi network and the network key"
In fact if this requires the creation of a Wi-Fi bridge and is well explained on the support site at the issue level "Connect to SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive." SanDisk indicates a procedure that allows your mobile device or computer to wirelessly access the content of the key and at the same time remain connected to the Internet (as long as the wireless internet network is available of course).

- "Audio":
I have not found a solution to create a playlist for it is mandatory to go through the player application that does not allow this feature. At the end of each piece should be asked to read the following. It's unfortunate and, in my opinion, a big flaw that it be corrected in the future.

- "Streaming Video".
In the basic configuration, you can not play AVI or MKV Streaming on IOS devices. By default, the key sends the files to the target device. However, there is an inexpensive solution that allows streaming: "it's playing Pro" that interacts natively with the Sandisk key. Be careful though, there are some restrictions such as the lack of DTS or not support WMV files. I invite you to read it on the website of "itsplayingapp".
It is also possible to play MKV streaming on Android devices. There is no solution other than basic: INTEGRAL transfer MKV file on the target device and given flow ...

- "For the wifi of the key is activated, the key must not be connected to a power supply device"
This is not entirely accurate. The key Wi-Fi is turned off automatically whenever the latter is connected to a computer, even if it is "unmounted". By cons, Wi-Fi works great if the key is plugged into a USB / AC adapter. It is therefore possible to operate the key while the charging.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE KEY AND KEY 16/32 GB 64 GB

Key 16/32 GB are made to be used with microSDHC cards that accept only FAT32 formatting (note that on the support site SanDisk indicated how to use microSDXC cards on these keys, but it comes to format in FAT32). Therefore the file size is limited to 4GB which can be problematic for videos.

Key 64GB use, they, of microSDXC cards formatted in exFAT which overcomes this limit. In my case it is a huge plus because I'm particularly interested (and also my daughters laugh) by streaming video.
