With this new recital CD, devoted exclusively to Richard Wagner - in this year of the bicentenary of the birth of the "magician of Bayreuth" - the great German tenor Jonas Kaufmann is in its natural repertoire. He who has accustomed us to turn into gold everything he touched so far in the post-Romantic repertoires whatsoever (Italian, French and German), brings us an absolutely remarkable product. At the beach 1, extracted from "The Valkyrie", he launched an incredible vocal projection, with a "Wälse!", "Waltz" we have not heard for decades! His bronze body knows soften in softer expressions. With Siegmund, he shows is an extensive range of "baryténor" made of sparkling treble and tenor up to bass baritone. For the beach 2, her Siegfried, excerpt from "Siegfried" is of great lyrical tenderness at the beautiful scene of "Whispers of the forest". Then, track 3, his "prayer of Rienzi", extracted from the opera of the same name - a relative rarity - was never heard sung that way since at least the mid-twentieth century, for an air extremely difficult to interpret. A track 4, his "Narrative of Rome," from "Tannhäuser" grueling scene, is an absolute success both vocal point of view on the dramatic plan. Regarding the range 5 to 1 tunes Walter von Stolzing - extracted from the "Meistersinger", he shows a whole lyricism combined with brilliant highs. So we track 6, with the "Story of the Grail", from "Lohengrin", a dream incarnation, that of a kind of "belcantisme Wagnerian" (often mixed voices). Here we have the original version of this passage, backed by perfect chorus. This recital ends with the "Wesendonck-Lieder", rarely sung by a tenor. Again, everything is lyricism, especially for "Im Triebhaus" and "Traüme". Jonas Kaufmann is now ready to face the major roles "heldentenor" Wagnerian, such as Tannhäuser, Tristan and Siegfried. His only problem will be that of managing endurance. Finally, note that the orchestral accompaniment, under the direction of Donald Runnicles, seems like an excellent level. Either the 2013 opera products to acquire eyes closed.
