Processing:
Here Nikon has been no nakedness and the camera really hammer out very well. The housing consists mostly of painted metal that is coated on the handle with a non-slip rubber coating. This camera is very good and safe in your hand, so you can hold the device still quiet even with longer exposure times.
The only criticism is the Punk telephoto lens whose locking mechanism does not work with me. In this price range (1000 level in January 2013) I expect more quality here.
Service:
The operation and menu navigation of the camera is beautifully simple and intuitive. The menu is clearly laid out and you immediately find everything you need.
To take pictures even all controls are needed in place and easily accessible. The advantage of V2 compared to the more favorable variant of the Nikon 1 J2 are here especially the two control wheels including function key, with which all the important parameters (aperture, exposure, ISO, white balance, etc.) can be set quickly and easily.
Features:
There are of course the usual features on board, such as Manual Mode, Automatic, etc. Also, slow motion movies are possible.
However, Nikon has very saved in the advanced options. Firstly, no interval shooting (eg every 5 minutes) possible, this function is in the Nikon 1 J2 available. For me, a big minus, not to include such a feature in the top version of the Nikon 1 series. To create a function for panorama shooting, or bracketing I have searched in vain. Also missing the old well-known function of selective color, or Miniature Effect is also missing.
Perhaps Nikon is so gracious and even upgraded this by e firmware update.
Image Quality:
However, the main point of the Nikon is quite convincing. The very small sensor does quite a good job, because the pictures convince with detail and clarity. Also the noise Nikon has a good grip. Until ISO1600, the noise keeps so limited that you can not see it on 10x15cm print. A great supplement is the Powerful 18.5mm Fixbrennweitenobjektiv with a maximum aperture of 1.8, which brings out impressive results from the small sensor. Also filming are very good and convince with clear and sharp images.
Only at slow shutter speeds (more than 5 seconds) break the quality, even at ISO values, low level, something from.
Display and sensor:
The power of the display is good, the brightness still sufficient even in bright sunlight, and the resolution also true. Unfortunately it does not is a fold-out, rotatable display, which would be very helpful in some situations.
The electronic viewfinder works very well by day, in the dark you can see, unfortunately, not much.
What is missing:
The only thing I personally really 1 series lacks in complete Nikon, is the possibility of manual focusing via a dial on the lens. While the manual focus via the menu and the function wheels is selected, however, this does not correct Photography Feeling on.
CONCLUSION:
Overall, the Nikon 1 V2 convinced despite minor shortcomings, through its fine workmanship, the ease of use and good image quality. A highlight is especially the Lightning-fast autofocus, which I have seen in this form rare in a camera and the ability to take pictures with an exposure of 1 / 16000s. Another plus are the reasonably-priced lenses Nikon 1 series, with which one can expand his system. Ultimately, of course, the very compact design very enjoyable, especially in comparison to bulky SLR.
All in all, the V2 is a great camera for ambitious amateur photographers. It should be mentioned that the price of this set is very high and as competitor Samsung (NX200) or Sony (NEX 5) offer considerably cheaper cameras with the same image quality.
For the Nikon from me it therefore 4 stars.
